After Friday’s total annihilation and humiliation, we’re looking at a series of games where we have no chance of winning any of them for the best part of two months, with one possible exception of the Dragons.
To that end, Booth has to learn what should have been obvious to him, ie limit the number of slow, static players in the run on team.
I‘d pick:
Nagy, Cuthbert, Collins, Watkin, Protheroe or Giles, Myler, RMW; Phillips, Parry, Francis, Beard, Davies R, Griffiths, Roots, Morgan
Thomas, Phillips, Botha, Davies B, Morris, Webb, Anscombe, Williams
Why? Get slow, static players like Nagy and Watkin back in their natural position, drop liabilities like Evans, have impact subs like Botha and Thomas actually be subs, have Webb on against tired defenders, have ball carrying from Garyn Phillips and have Kieran Williams and Morris on later for carries.
Hopefully we can reduce the margin of defeat and prevent what could become an incredible loss of confidence which ruins the season.
I'll repeat it again and again, Pivac was in the crowd and saw a superb back row - non of them capped at full level.
Later on I saw the Dragons play Glasgow, what a gutless performance, by the way the back row had 2 fully capped players.
What the hell more does Jac or Will need to do to even get into the squad?
Loved that defensive performance last night! Ulster are there or thereabouts the best in the league IMO so to contain them was fantastic.
Fantastic win, the defence was everything it wasn’t last week. Jack Morgan one hell of a player.
A hard fought win and great turn around from last week, a superb defensive effort from 1 to 23 and the scrum deserves a special mention . We had limited attacking opportunities but when we did we were pretty one dimensional again and lacked any threat.
What a great defensive performance from the lads. We really dug in and defended to a man. Made the day even better when The Ospreylian Trust sponsored Morgan Morris scored a try and was deservedly named MOTM.
Gutsy performance, an excellent win.
Well done boys, excellent! What a difference it makes having someone at 15 who can defend. Hopefully Nagy will be ok.
Well first time I’ve been able to get up to Swansea this season for a game. So I hope we can put up better effort than last week !!!!
Our usual stunt of bringing two props to rough the opposition up won’t work - McGrath and Moore will dominate.
Booths blind spot when it comes to Dan Evans is really going to cost us this season.
Here is the teamsheet...
Looking at the run out today the team is something like this:-
gareth thomas
sam parry
tom francis
brad davies
rhys davies
will griffith
jac morgan
morgan morris
rhys webb
steve myler
luke morgan
owen watkin
michael collins
alex cuthbet
dan evans ( was holding his hamstring so a doubt)
bench was difficult to tell but these are there
nicky smith
elvis
tom Botha
regan
roots
Are we now operating with no defence coach?
The Ospreylian Trust will be in the O-Zone in the South Stand, to launch our new Family Membership deal - 2 adults and kids for just £40. The kids will get a free Ospreys players signed mini rugby ball and also get entered into a once-a-season draw to win Ospreys players signed memorabilia.
Come along and say hello and sign up.
One piece of good news is that Duane Vermuelen has tested positive for Covid and will not be available this weekend. Obviously it is not good news that he has Covid but it is good news that he is not available to face us.
The gaps created around and off the scrum between Roots and Cross you could drive a bus between
Morris , surely instead of Roots who defensively was very poor at Connacht
@TaI I think that run on team is very close to the team I would expect us to field for the RCC matches. I think that we should give it a run out against Ulster to get the team ready for the RCC matches.
Other teams seem to manage it and break us down quite easily. Are they playing 1970 rugby if so it’s still successful.
We cannot play Myler and two slow centres together the wings need space to run at not just being clattered into touch with us crabbing across field. The opposition know what to expect from us and can easily nullify our attack.
