That has now been replaced with a 2024 to 2028 Strategic Plan though neither of them mention the elephant in the room of year after year of deficits despite millions of euros in government cash. Kevin Potts has said that unless the new TV deals are huge improvements (paywalled?) there will need to be drastic cuts.
The WRU financial year ends this weekend when they start counting the shekels. We won't know much until the full strategy is published in October, which is coincidentally when the annual report/accounts are published and we find out if it is all aspirational management-speak or whether there is financial substance to it.
FoI requests do not apply to companies like WRU only to public bodies.
Since IRFU own the provinces they have hundreds more employees.
The two unions are in no way comparable financially. IRFU has had close to 100 million euros in Dublin government grants since Covid.
The "Strategy" will probably be published but details of the Review may well be covered by commercial confidence with regard to the private companies which are the regions.
Both unions list staff numbers by department in their Annual Reports but they are not directly comparable. (see item 2, Irish Provinces employ development officers and the like which WRU employs directly.)
What a wonderful strategy, kick the tin down the road , and tie Lance’ s hands behind his back
Given we are to be given an “outline” strategy, and the publicised ref to IRFU ( and NZ ) Strategies
I accessed IRFU 2018 / 2023 Strategy on their website, worth a read given their success during the period
Given the disparity in numbers of employees WRU/IRU
Are the numbers of WRU employees by category available as a matter of public record or would a Freedom of Information request be appropriate
Views on public availability, and questions to be asked welcomed
As to whether the soon to be published Review Report would be affected by such a request is a mute point
