From the Booth interview, it sounds like we’re sending an experimental and weakened side out there.
I think that’s sensible even though it’ll probably get very ugly quickly. We should be preserving the squad for winnable games and I think it is pragmatic of Booth to effectively throw this one to target home games. Even if we’re a few points below par, it’s far more important to preserve the squad at this stage.
I’d like to see Joe Hawkins and Walsh paired at 10-12, and I’d like to see Protheroe at 15 to see if we can get a consolation try BP.
It’s all so hopelessly futile though isn’t it? Even the Ulster commentators were making conciliatory statements regarding the Ospreys. Not our fault I know that we are always up against it, but the futility comes home after so many seasons of the same old. Of course the test will be when we entertain them at home but what can change?
Another predictably weak away performance which reminds us we have barely made any progress and we’re not a serious team.
As usual, one words suffices - embarrassing.
A heavy defeat for the Ospreys at the Kingspan as they go down 47-17. Morgan Morris with the final try of the match.
Here is the team
So what do we think something like Protheroe, Giles, Collins, Hawkins, Morgan/Nagy, Walsh, Webb, Thomas, Lake, Botha, Davies, BBBD, Griffiths, Deaves/Morgan, Morris we haven't long to wait
So apart from Thomas, Lake and Morgan who all need game time the rest of the expected Wales call ups are rested, also perhaps Nagy might be at 15 instead of Protheroe, but I would like Matt to have some game time.
Its a shame we have to be thinking like this, especially so early in the season, but I suppose that's the economics of the game. Especially in Wales. Not sure anyone bar Leinster can get around this.....
@TaI stranger things have happened but you are right in that it will likely get pretty ugly.
Booth has to be pragmatic and protect the squad.
