Today and as mentioned previously by @Fiddler , Wales Online is reporting that talks are at an advanced state for CVC to buy into the Pro 14 and that could mean a £35 Million investment into Welsh rugby and its four regions. Discuss.
CVC money is largely being lined up for three hotels, womens rugby and the community game. Rest will go to the 4 regions. Criminal.
From the Ospreys presser...
Davies on the PRB distribution model
Davies: “The PRB has been in place for a relatively short period of time. I’ve been involved for 7 months.
“Last week was probably one of the biggest steps forward that board has taken in that we agreed the new distribution model.
“It’s probably the most exciting development I remember since the game went professional.
“All the regions can get on with recruitment. We’re already a little bit late.
“These guys have mortgages to pay and kids to look after.
“We just want to get on with our recruitment. We’ll be starting in earnest to recruit those that we want to build for the future.
“We’ve got the CVC investment coming in and that will underpin the distribution model.
“The PRB has the ability to distribute that as wisely as it can. We are trying to be fair but there is obviously an inherent conflict in that.
“Going forward, the CVC will come and next Thursday there will hopefully be an agreement as to how much gets distributed annually.”
Cheers for that. Get it now. I'm not opposed to women's,clubs or 7's getting something extra. But I would think that the bulk of it has to go to the region. With respect to stopping games clashing when players are away on international duty, about bloody time. Surely that's when we should have an A competition instead?
A poster on Scarlet Fever posted that some of the money will go to the women and 7s but did not post how much. The general feeling there is that the money should go to the Regions.
Excuse my ignorance ( I have been reading around trying to find out more), but if there is a CVC investment, is that a one off pot of money. Or is there potentially more behind that?
As with everything the WRU touches, there will be pre-conditions, but unfortunately would you trust Millward etc with the money?
