It is a correct opinion though. Ratti is our best carrier Morse has incredible foot speed and Jac is incredible full stop. Going forward you pick a big line out option at 6 and two smaller faster players at 7&8 . Balance is key you play Ratti Tristan or Will Griff at 6 and two from Jac Morse Morris and Deaves at 7&8.

I think we ought to stop thinking of the back row and think about selection of the back 5 as a single unit. With aggressive and mobile locks like Spencer, Fender, Rhys and WillGriff we have the luxury of having Ratti at 6, Jac at 7 and Morris/Morse at 8. As you rightly say, the selection of others allows the use of more nimble players like Deaves.

I was impressed by the cameo of Tristan Davies who looks to have changed shape. We are blessed at lock and back row when all are fit and the young un's coming through look very promising.

I think any decent tight head would help. We found a way yesterday but I cannot think of many refs who would not have carded our props yesterday. Budgets make it difficult but the simple fact is that if you have to play Thomas and Warren for any length of time you won’t get many refs who won’t card them.

Agreed. It seems the really big ones take a bit more nurturing. Would he have been better off on loan to an English championship club like Fender? SRC is better than nothing but I am not yet convinced of the value to regional transition players.

I think it is more the case that front five forwards in particular need to be conditioned to pro standard. So it is more about conditioning players between 20 and 24 and then seeing if by 24 you can play at top level. It is about keeping players in the system for a bit longer to see if they come through. There will be a 90% failure rate but it would only need 10% to become full pro players for it to be a success.

I think you would include Boshoff and Spencer in that group. Conbeer great attacker but woeful defender. As suspected our back up props struggled badly. Most refs would have carded our props. Morse needs to be tied up on a decent contract. He was immense.

Fantastic effort. Scrum was in real trouble and we struggled in the air but we looked by far the fitter side. Morse incredible in the final 5 minutes.

What a superb result by this amazing team that just keeps on finding a way to win.

Looking at their site, it looks like most of the backs are fringe players with Joe Simmonds (formerly of Exeter) not involved but the majority of the forwards seem to be first choice.

The website said Coka was unavailable for this Newcastle game but Boshoff has been gaining in confidence so centre should not be such a concern. It may be that the Wales selections will have more of a bearing on the next few squads
