Ospreys V Scarlets Boxing Day 2022

I was going to say that perhaps Giles was being rested for Europe but he was not picked for the Montpelier game. I did think that Giles was possibly not being picked because of his errors in the Tigers game but Morgan made errors in the Montpelier game and still got picked for yesterday. To be fair, Morgan did have a good game yesterday.

Against 14 men I thought we made very heavy weather of winning tonight. It shows how poor the passing is with our back line that we could not trouble them in the wider channels until the last play of the game. We are very weak at 13 and 15.

Defensively we were again outstanding. We need to give Darren Edwards leave of absence more often

I was still basking in my post-game euphoric state of winning the Derby to be too sensible.

I did say to my boy that we made hard work of maximising the extra man and that Nagy really needs to work on his kicking and his positioning. We were really good at scrum time and most of the lineouts went well but our maul seems to have stuttered a bit. Roots and Jac were excellent and contended with each other for MOTM in my opinion. We did not exploit the extra space/man at all but we got the BP win and that is what really counts.

Spot on Jason and as you know I thought Roots was my MOTM, even though Jac was outstanding, I thought the continual use of keeping the ball at the back of the scrum especially was the wrong option and we had a few penalties against us, when the option to give it out to the backs was obvious to me with the extra man. When we tried it once in the 2nd half we just whipped the ball out without drawing the man, this was elementary as was shown with Kieran's try. Apart from the intercept try I thought our Captain was brilliant and totally outshone his 2 opposite numbers.

We just need to keep up the good work now next Sunday.

Is Giles injured?

Yes agree on that unless as Tommy says Keelan is injured, also with all the publicity that Dewi Lake has had he's not included, although you cannot fault the performances of Scott or Sam.

I dont think AWJ and Beard are a good combination Paul.

Out of interest with Edwards not there who is coaching the defence? Have you noticed when they train?

For me I'd start with Beard/Rhys, possibly bring on Sutton or AWJ. So impressed with Rhys this season. I hope we start with Owen Williams too, massive difference he made last weekend. We get it right on Monday we could put 40+ on that lot

But that means you leave out Roots? It is a massive call either way and I just hope that it works out for us whichever way Booth decides to go.

I would not leave Roots out of the 23. His counter rucking was immense yesterday. He is the best counter rucker in the side.

Dewi is 10 times the player of Baldwin. If he is fit he and Parry are the two hookers for Boxing Day.

We have to build on yesterday's win and performance and kick on for the rest of the season. It would be very poor from us if we don't.

We know that the Scarlets have had two big wins recently but they were not playing anywhere near the standard of opposition we have faced in those two games so there is the potential for them to be slightly undercooked but there is no doubt that they will be up for the game.
