I feel like Botha got a rough deal from the ref last night as there were a couple of scrums where Boyle went down first but the ref had it in his mind that they were stronger than us at scrum time. Slimani was a lot to handle for Garyn but he will learn from it. In saying that we do need a couple of front row players.

Im of the opinion that garyn is going to turn out to be a top level prop. The game time he's currently getting against the likes of Slimani will do him the world of good.

Deaves was amazing but it was him who was offside for that one 3 pointer.

It's a pity we didn't nail those two attacking lineouts in the first 10 minutes, something could have come from them.

Some increasingly bizarre and one sided officiating but I think we coulda shoulda won that had we not had HIA's at crucial times or maybe had more than one hooker.

Is Will Austin now "one of ours"? He was with Sale Sharks senior academy until he joined Swansea Uni and Wales Under 20's.

Some of the ref's decisions were baffling watching in the stadium so I have no idea how they looked on TV until I watch the game back.

I think Hopkins went for it at the end when in retrospect he probably should have just ensured he made a safe touch. Obviously had Jack been on, he would have kicked and probably found touch.

No idea about Will but he could well be.

I like that about our young lads, if they go for it they do so 100% and write it off immediately if it doesn't come off. I spoke to Steve Mellalieu about this psychology and it is fascinating stuff. Having the arrogance to think oneself "better" and yet the humility to accept fallibility without residual harm. Dan is especially good at going "balls out" and then doing it again after a failure.

Not sure we had enough fit and available players to select that way but I see your point.

So no Jordie Barrett and RG is only on the bench. It would be great to give 'em a bloody nosey and win.

Sherratt is not turning up until Monday and neither are Anscombe and Jarrod so Dan will probably spend the next three weeks holding tackle bags which would be wasteful. That's why being head coach of a national side has a whole lot more man management than does a club side.

If we could field Dan I would actually be confident but it looks to be a close run thing.

So we didn't quite get the win but we certainly gave them a bloody nose and judging by the way they ended the game, they knew they were in a game.

Mind you we have 18 on the injured or unavailable list too.

Are they definitely being released?
