What with the Blues reverting back to being called Cardiff next season do you think we may attract new supporters from the Bridgend area who may feel let down and left out?
The Cardiff Blues never really bought into the Regional concept. They went along paying lip service and have now got what they always wanted , stand alone status. The WRU seem happy with the situation contrary to their position several years ago. Cardiff have always thought themselves as Wales premier team and deserve special consideration. What are the Ospreys, if not a Regional Franchise ?
I thought Bridgend supporters already followed the Ospreys. I presume you mean Ponty supporters. There is a possibility we may attract some. The bigger attraction would be to get hold of young players from theirPonty pathway but I doubt Cardiff will give that prize up.They are an independent company as are we and the Scarlets owned by shareholders and they can call the companies what they like if they feel that maximises their branding value. I doubt either us or the Scarlets would want to give up our brand names as they are unique. The Blues is used all over the world so you cannot build a brand around that name.
According to reports Merthyr are happy with the name change but being owned by Stan Thomas that is not surprising. Ponty have not responded yet. I did mean Bridgend , being furthest East and bordering on the Blues so called region there could be disenfranchised Blues supporters.
I'm no expert on this sort of thing, but if the Ospreys become a "Regional Franchise" would this put us in a stronger position financially compared to the "stand alone" teams?
I don’t understand the change from Cardiff blues to Cardiff rugby. Other than wanting to wipe out any stain of the vain attempt at being a region, will it make any difference?

On that note, do people still feel we are a ’region’?

I very much doubt they ever felt “included”
