With no hope of reaching the Top 8 URC places, a season that promised so much a couple of months ago, has fissled out into an end of season dead rubber against the Lions with nothing but pride to play for. I will look to do a Post about how and why the season fell apart as it did another time but for now we concentrate on the Lions match.
With nothing on the game, one wonders who Mark will select for this game. Will he give the fringe players who might be leaving one last shot or do he stay true to those who have been his go to selections?
I think he will stick with his go to selections and this is the squad I think he will pick...
G Thomas S Thomas/G Phillips
D Lake S Parry
T Botha B Warren
A Beard W Spencer J Fender
J Ratti M Morse J Morgan J Tipuric/H Deaves
K Hardy RMW/L Davies
D Edwards
K Giles
K Williams E Boshoff O Williams
D Kasende
J Walsh
I Hopkins
Case in point today, last kick of the game, we don't even lift our lock with two lifters because we don't have two lifters in place to lift him. Genuine amateur level preparation. No other pro team, not even the Dragons in the midst of the worst season of all time, would do that. I'd laugh if a SRC team did that but we did it with the game on the line. Unbelievable
Dammit our 2nd half performance was a lot better, gutted we list to the last play. K Hire seemed to handle himself well better than I expected to b3 fair. Looking forward to next season, no leavers list or new signings hope they come out soon. Ymlaen y Gweilch.
I haven't managed to watch the game but I have seen the score and how the scoring went - gutted.
I will post again once I get to see the match.
Sorry, forgot to show the Lions 23;
Quan Horn; Richard Kriel, Henco van Wyk, Bronson Mills, Edwill van der Merwe; Lubabalo Dobela, Nico Steyn; Juan Schoeman, Jaco Visagie (capt), Asenathi Ntlabakanye, Ruan Venter, Ruan Delport, JC Pretorius, Renzo du Plessis, Jarod Cairns.
Replacements: Morne Brandon, SJ Kotze, RF Schoeman, Izan Esterhuizen, WJ Steenkamp, Layton Horn, Marius Louw, Kelly Mpeku.
This is a tricky one for me Jason, I'd love to see the likes of Deavesy giving Jac a bit of a rest, I'd also like to see Lewis Lloyd have a starting role, with either of the other 2 on the bench, we need to see Cokasigna on the field to see what he's got for next season, putting either of Keith or Evardi on the bench, and possibly even starting Iestyn with Jack on the bench covering both 10 and 15. Practically nearly all your squad I would pick.
