I have just returned home from an Ospreys event where we watched the draw for the Champions Cup.
Got to sit by Ospreys director Chris Richards and Grant & Keith from the OSC.
If you know how the draw works then the teams we drew will not come as much of a surprise.
We drew Montpelier and Leicester Tigers so the draw could not have been much tougher.
Before the draw, Nick Garcia spoke about how well the season tickets sales are going along with all of the business KPIs.
Toby Booth spoke about wanting to challenge the best teams and of integrating the new players with the "big dogs " as he called our most experienced players.
After the draw Tips said a few words about being out for so long and that he should be back in full training early next week. I do know that the boys had a fitness test today and if they passed it they could have the rest of the week off.
Toby then continued that at home we should be a test for any one and that we want to improve on the number of wins and BPs we get this season in the URC.
Bring it on.
Poule A :
Castres ; Saracens ; Bulls ; Lyon ; Exeter ; Edimbourg ; Union Bordeaux-Bègles ; Harlequins ; Leinster ; Racing 92 ; Gloucester ; Sharks
Poule B :
Montpellier ; Leicester ; Stormers ; Clermont ; London Irish ; Ospreys ; Toulouse ; Northampton ; Ulster ; La Rochelle ; Sale ; Munster
I think our chances of a top 8 or top 10 finish might be slightly better in pool b than pool a
I have to ask, was there any hints at additional recruitment I was thinking that with our current squad our European campaign might be a bit better next season. But after this draw hmm.
Thanks for that Jason.
It‘s not ideal to have Montpellier but Saracens and Leicester are much of a muchness. Hopefully we won’t play Mont away until round 4.
A fit squad will give us an interesting campaign
