I think we will see around 30 players named for this pre season friendly on Saturday September 7th at 3pm.
I think the Squad will be something like...
G Phillips S Thomas C Jones
S Parry E Lewis L Lloyd
T Botha AN Other
H Sutton J Ratti T Currie L Jones
H Deaves M Morris T Davies AN Other
RMW L Davies K Hardy/S Whitlock
D Edwards L Scully
K William P Cokansiga
H Houston C Moyse L Morgan R Conbeer
M Nagy L Edwards
I will edit the squad once it is announced.
I think these players are still injured or recovering so will not be involved - B Warren, A Beard, R Davies, J Fender, K Giles, W Griffiths, D Lake, J Morgan. That means that T Florence, W Greatbanks, K Hardy, I Hopkins, R Henry, M Morse, G Thomas, J Tipuric, J Walsh, O Williams and O Watkin could well be injured.
It was a game of few chances thanks to the weather but I think we were good value for the win.
We defended well (although we were helped by Exeter’s handling errors) and their try came from a cross field kick which was fumbled by one of our players, I was down the other end so unsure who it was but it led to their winger scoring.
Garyn Philips didn’t play despite being named in the starting XI, Steffan Thomas started with Cameron Jones coming off the bench, and I’d argue that the Bridgend prop held up better than Thomas…
Tristan Davies was excellent and I think he could play an important role this season.
Thought we’d blown the chance to win after knocking on in their 22 but the ball came out of the scrum, Deaves picked up and was tackled just short before Scully scored a phase later.
It was a proper “find a way” performance and we can be pleased with ourselves after going down there and winning, pre-season or not.
Just chatted by DM with someone who was at the game today, and I asked him how the young TH prop went.
He said that under the circumstances with Garyn being on the LH, the TH did okay. The scrum did struggle to get the ball away a few times but they did not concede any penalties in the first half.
We did give away a scrum penalty when the new front row came on but after that we had scrum dominance.
On the injury front, Sutton limped off gingerly and Nagy had to have his foot bandaged up during the first half.
Great win. Let’s hope no injuries. Cheetahs won so in semis of Currie Cup next week away to Lions so doubt we get any Calvary for opening fixture
At the final scrum, the ball pops out for Luke Scully to scoop and score.
Ospreys with a very late try that's converted and we win 10-14.
79 minutes and we knock on. Chance of the win likely gone but at least we went for it
2 minutes left, Chiefs get a yellow card and the Ospreys are scrumming again
Ospreys pushing for the next score and win a penalty. They are going to the scrum 10m out.
Roots is off, Hawkins is on by the way
Both sides competing hard.
An Ospreys maul goes close but the ball goes loose.
Ospreys with a lineout on the Chiefs 22
Ospreys scrum creaking a little bit the back row are able to clear the ball and then the Chiefs are penalised allowing the Ospreys to clear.
Chiefs are making changes but there's no update on the Ospreys changes unfortunately.
Try Chiefs after a fumble 10-7.
Ospreys on the attack
Thanks for the updates Jason
Ospreys defending and win a penalty that puts them back on the attack.
Ospreys defending well.
A 50:22 for the Chiefs and they are on the attack again
TRY Conbeer after several minutes of pressure the Ospreys score the opening try and Dan Edwards converts.
3-7
0-0 after 12 minutes with the Exeter pack seemingly on top.
Updates are available on the Chiefs X page.
