Anybody got an update on this league? I know Cardiff, Ponty and Merthyr have refused to join so is it still going ahead without them if so how does it work, will the Premiership be played alongside the new competition or instead of it.
It is a crazy situation in the Premiership where some teams support their Regions and suffer for it by continually having to change their team and lack any continuity or team identity while others are just out for the glory and self interest.
Interesting concept of eight teams, chosen from the premiership, with each region nominating which team to affiliate, one from North Wales and a squabble for the three vacant places ?
the Turks in usual one eyed manner have jumped the gun by proposing out of the Premiership this year “as it’s not competitive enough“, they are bottom and would I understand be relegated, therefore not being eligible as a choice, but intend after a year proposing themselves for “Scarlets chosen team”
This whist Carm Quins and Llandovery top the league
Ospreys unlike Cardiff and Dragons have engaged with teams within the region
Swansea,Bridgend and Aberavon are in the mix for nomination, very sadly Neath unless they get promoted prior to choice time are not eligible
Whilst Swansea have the affiliation with the University, which has its attraction, I as a previous Whites supporter consider that to maintain our Region ethic Ospreys should choose Bridgend and hopefully add either Aberavon or Neath if possible
I’d imagine that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. You throw in the World Cup, and the starting 15 for long periods will be made up of a lot of transitional players.
It is going to be interesting to see how you define a transitional player. I suspect it will just be a term for a very low paid player. You may find players with desperate injury records like Moore and Harri Morgan can not get anything more in the market than a transitional contract
You’ve hit the nail on the head. I’d potentially add Sam Moore into that bracket. The only good thing that comes from it, is that these players will obviously have a lot of motivation to perform to improve their contracts.

The one true REGION ?
