Indeed just watched the whole game on you tube. It is the first time in years we have won the gain line battle in attack and defence. We then played to a very clear and tight pattern. I have not seen that kind of energy from us for some time.
That was an unexpectedly excellent win in terrible conditions. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't manage a BP! We have a tough start to the season but that will surely give the squad a lot of confidence. Job well done.
Really didn’t expect that, I suppose we’ve been burnt so badly the last 18 or so months I thought we’d roll over. How wrong I was, excellent performance.
@Jake Bullet Booth gave a very fair explanation for Scott Williams not starting but even allowing for that if you set reputations aside Kieran Williams and Owen Watkin would be our starting centres. The Venter who played for the Cheetahs was one of the best 9's in the Pro 14. We have hardly seen him play for us and not in the new attack system. You cannot fault that selection after that result. Cracknell is an effective player in those type of conditions because his lack of lateral speed and agility cannot be exposed.
Ventner is joining our growing band of overseas disastrous signings. It’s a long list. This season we have 2 props in the same position and that appears to be it along with Myler.
@edwar53 I don't quite see the hype around Dewi Lake as his throwing is very inconsistent and he has given away some crucial daft penalties. I think Otten provides a better impact off the bench. The rest of the bench is probably as good as we could get.
What is the point in not going up there fully loaded. Let’s pick our strongest available side before team Wales gets their hands on them. We have to turn our fortunes around and get the season off to a good start for the sake of the team and supporters.
@TaI North, Morgan, Protheroe, Giles, Cambriani? OK, North might not be available and Giles might not be fit but there are still 3 decent wingers there....
Not sure Keelan and Scott Williams ready apart from that most of the 22 are spot on. Is Ventner still here? Anyone tried the discount for premier sport ?
@smartmart69 ive done it via their website. It allowed me to buy as a sky customer so I can record games on the tv and took the promo code to get it for £80 instead of £99.99. I was going to watch the games in my local rugby club, but the way things are I’m not going to risk it.
Yes it was Rhys I was thinking of. If Beard and AWJ are called up it will be good to have tried both Rhys and BBBD in fairly competitive games with Will Griffiths as well that should be a half decent threesome taking us into the International period. Hopefully putting Fender in as an when we need him, that way hopefully we wont have to put in 'you know who'.
Jake have you forgotten Botha for tight head, I'd have him starting and Fia on the bench. Is Venter here ? if he is , bench for me, which Williams do you have at 12 Kieran or Scott, it's the former for me with either Scott or Watkin starting and on the bench at 13 or 23, if he's fit Keelan has to start at 11 otherwise as you've stated for the rest of the backs. Don't know how our new 2nd row performed last Friday if he played well bench for me otherwise BBBD for 19, and finally as you say Josh Thomas at 22
@ospreysfanforum I think he means Rhys Davies. With regards to your earlier post, I agree with Fidler, I don’t see any chance of us winning up there. We are still to address our glaring deficiencies, most notably ball carrying. That we are yet again starting a season with no reputable no 8 speaks volumes.
@Allthewaythere Doh, I thought he might have meant Will Griffiths, forgot about Rhys....
I guess it will all depend on the day - maybe Booth has managed to get more out of these players than previous coaches. I do accept that I under estimated Edinburgh, forgetting that they are a much better side under Cockerill.
@ogwrwayne no I hadn’t forgotten Botha...not that impressed with him over recent games so thought of fia instead. Keiran instead of Scott, and I’d definitely put Giles in but I’m assuming he’s not fit yet. Really not a fan of venter though..,I’d love him to prove me wrong but I just don’t think he’s offered anything since his arrival.
Thanks @ogwrwayne . It’ll be great to see us start the season with as much of a full strength team as possible. Even if we don’t win it’ll be good to see a statement of intent. However, lose our first two games and I fear it becomes a ‘thing’ again.
@Jake Bullet I would be shocked if we went up there and lost if we were fully loaded....I think that we will go as full strength as Pivac will allow us to go and then it is just on the day.
Jake, according to Press reports Pivac is selecting his squad for the next round of International games in week commencing October 5th. So IMO there is no need for us to hold back in selection for at least this game.
Mathew Southcombe the Fail reporter that covered this game said that Josh Thomas and Harri Morgan stood out for us, it was primarily an article about standout youngsters.
Think the game is on s4c tonight too
We looked like a real rugby side again. Not perfect but actually a rugby side.
That was as complete performance as we have put together for a long time .

bloody bloody brilliant
Can we swear here......I'd like to swear, a lot.....
....... well done all. Excellent result.
He seemed ok ,chatting to the other players in the stand .
I'll take that. Any news on Webb's injury?
Top job in those conditions, brilliant win.
great performance by us, aggressive throughout and looked in control throughout. Well done ospreys!!!
Really didn’t expect that, I suppose we’ve been burnt so badly the last 18 or so months I thought we’d roll over. How wrong I was, excellent performance.
bloody hope so ,don't do a turks.
Good first half from us...can we back it up in the 2nd?
Underlines where we are where that really is quite a flimsy side with a lot of holes. Huge result if we can win but I doubt it.

Not sure of this team, good to see Lydiate back in the squad, odd that he has not had a run out of late. Is it me or does the bench look a bit weak?

we really need to get stuck in from the word go . Edinburgh are no mugs these days and will stuff us if we go half cocked.
What is the point in not going up there fully loaded. Let’s pick our strongest available side before team Wales gets their hands on them. We have to turn our fortunes around and get the season off to a good start for the sake of the team and supporters.
Hopefully we’ll get some clarity over who is injured and not.
Think we’ll be really thin at wing.

Any sign of a new forwards coach ?
Here is the official Fixture list
off, yes you are right it is the preliminary list according to WOL
not sure @ospreysfanforum but they seemed pretty sure that’s where we’re starting.
@Jake Bullet is that a preliminary fixture list?
