The Ospreys will travel to Cardiff on Saturday for the Judgement Day clash with Cardiff Rugby at the Principality Stadium, knowing that only a level of performance rarely seen from them in the URC this season will be required if they are to retain the Welsh Shield and qualify for the HCC next season. The Ospreys need a huge improvement from the game last time out against Edinburgh if they are to gain the 4 try bonus point and deny Cardiff any match points because only a 5-0 match points win will suffice.
This is the last and potentially the last Ospreys match for several players.
The weather is set to be showery so that could determine the selection of the 23, but I expect a largely unchanged match day squad - based on everyone being fit and available -
N Smith G Thomas S Parry D Lake T Francis T Botha A Beard AWJ R Davies E Roots M Morris D Lydiate and one from Sutton/Deaves
R Webb RMW O Williams G Anscombe G North K Williams O Watkin K Giles I Hopkins one from Collins/Hawkins?/Nagy
I do think that the starting team will be similar to the team that started against Saracens so
N Smith D Lake T Francis A Beard AWJ Lydiate/Deaves/Rhys E Roots M Morris
R Webb O Williams G North K Williams O Watkin K Giles I Hopkins/M Collins
Discuss.
Just about to watch the game back and I noticed that there was some sort of disagreement in the tunnel between Nicky and Turnbull and Frank Murphy. I wonder if that pissed off Murphy.
Booth said judge me after 3 years.
These are now up.
We are only a little bit better than when he started.
As others have said this result was set in stone prior to this game, Murphy being given this game and our selection of especially the back row, allowed Young a field day at the breakdown and in open play and didn't he revel in it, how Williams was given MOTM over him I couldn't believe it.
Murphy's interpretation of the scrum was ridiculous Assirati on one occasion was highlighted on the screen and his face was covered in grass cuttings. Talking about Coaches, why the hell did we allow Sherratt to leave, the co-ordination of their back play was a joy to watch on occasions, on the basis of yesterdays game not a single Ospreys back would get in a combined team of us and Cardiff.
Difficult watching that at the stadium today, but not the way we’d have wanted to see AWJ, Webb and Lydiate bow out. Gutted for them but I think we draw a line under this season and just see what next season brings. Lots of youngsters will get game time and maybe with that we’ll see a new lease of life.
Not long back from Cardiff.
Terrible, awful and that was just Frank Murphy. Don't get me started on the Ospreys performance for much of the game.
Well done Cardiff, wanted it more than us. I can’t see where we go from here, a very black day in our history, the old guys looked like pale shadows. Hope I never see North , Webb, AWJ, and Lydiate again, because they have been fabulous servants for Welsh rugby, but they are at least a season beyond their sell by date.
Paul spot on with the team again.
Come on Ospreys - let's get this done.
I think the squad looks like this:-
15 Collins
14 North
13 Keiran Williams
12 Owain Williams
11 Morgan
10 Anscombe
9 Webb
8 Morris
7 Lydiard
6 Davies
5 AWJ
4 Beard
3 Francis
2 Parry
1 Smith
16 Thomas
17 Lake
18 Botha
19 Sutton
20 Roots
21 RMW
22 Doel
23 Nargy
According to the man himself both Webb and North were lucky to survive after last Saturday.
i Hope this is accurate but it’s certainly looked that way at training today
Just took a quick look at training in the barn.
Strating team looks very much like last Saturdays
